Experience Details

Step into a warm, welcoming Tokyo home and enjoy a hands-on Japanese cooking experience with Aki, a local Tokyo mom who loves travel, cultural exchange, and sharing everyday Japanese food with guests from around the world.

This 2.5-hour class takes place in a quiet, spacious kitchen in central Tokyo, easily accessible from major areas. With a small group of up to six guests, the atmosphere stays relaxed and personal. It’s a perfect break from sightseeing and a chance to slow down and connect over food.

After a friendly introduction, you’ll choose one main dish to cook with Aki’s guidance. She explains each ingredient, technique, and the cultural background behind the dishes in a clear and approachable way. The setting is a real Japanese home, offering an authentic glimpse into how families cook and eat daily.

Options for the main dish include teriyaki chicken, miso-marinated saikyo yaki fish, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), gyoza (pan-fried dumplings), or vegetable and egg nori-maki sushi rolls.

If you choose any main dish except nori-maki, your meal will also include tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet), a seasonal vegetable side dish, homemade miso soup made with dashi, and rice balls. Choosing nori-maki includes the seasonal vegetable side and miso soup, but not tamagoyaki or rice balls.

Once cooking is finished, everyone sits down to enjoy the meal together, sharing conversation in a friendly, homey setting. This experience is ideal for travelers seeking a deeper cultural connection beyond typical sightseeing.
