Experience Details

Experience the delicate art of Japanese miniature flower gardens while enjoying a sweet treat in the heart of Shinjuku, one of Tokyo’s liveliest districts.

Creating miniature box gardens, or hakoniwa, became a popular pastime among Japan’s aristocracy in the late 19th century. Like bonsai, these tiny landscapes capture the essence of a larger world.

In this experience, you’ll craft your own garden using colorful dried flowers instead of rocks or greenery. Draw inspiration from nearby Shinjuku Gyoen Park, the neon lights of Kabukicho, or your personal style to create a beautiful, original flower garden that doubles as a perfect keepsake.

The experience is held at Hana No Aru Sumika, a stylish concept café with unique architecture and stunning floral arrangements. Expert staff will guide you as you carefully place preserved and dried flowers in compact boxes, ideal for decorating your home.

While creating your garden, you can enjoy one of three specialty parfaits: a citrus and black tea jelly with ice cream parfait, a meringue citron parfait with sweet and sour lemon cream, or a berry parfait featuring creme brulee and cheesecake.

This experience is perfect for anyone who loves to combine creativity with a sweet indulgence.
