Experience Details
The beauty of nature meets shopping street chaos in Ueno, where the peaceful Ueno Park contrasts with the bustling market of Ameya Yokocho (or Ameyoko for short). Ueno Park is home to Ueno Zoo and a number of galleries and museums while Ameyoko is full of discount shops and market stalls. Discover the best food in Ueno during this delicious Ueno Food Tour, where you’ll experience the food market and surrounding area with a helpful and friendly local guide. During this Ueno Food Tour, you’ll be guided through Ueno Park to see panda statues courtesy of Ueno Zoo, close to a number of big museum institutions. You’ll explore the local market area of Ameyoko and discover the best shops and restaurants in and around the lively market area. During this specialty Ueno Food Tour, first up on the menu you’ll taste a variety of sushi as you learn about the origins of the dish in Japan at a sushi specialty restaurant. You’ll also taste tempura in a delicious tempura donburi ("tendon" for short, a deep-fried tempura combined with a tasty donburi rice bowl) and then grill your own premium Japanese wagyu beef at a barbeque restaurant. You’ll taste some takoyaki octopus balls (a type of street food from Osaka), followed by a number of delicious Japanese sweets for dessert, like dango, mochi, and matcha ice cream.
