Experience Details
Conveniently near Ueno, Nippori is a textile district home to fascinating historical sites tucked away in nostalgic retro streets. Nippori Station is one of the busiest in Tokyo, usually bustling with airport visitors, commuters, and DIY enthusiasts. One stop away, near Nishi-Nippori Station, you’ll find this unique cooking class, perfect for those who want to enjoy Japanese home cooking without compromising their gluten-free and vegan diets. With guidance from a Japanese professional chef and restaurant owner, you'll transform organic and seasonal ingredients into a Japanese-style meal. Following the true spirit of Japanese cooking, the exact food contents will vary depending on the season but include classic Japanese dishes like sushi, miso soup, and ichigo daifuku, entirely vegan and gluten-free. Sample Spring Menu (subject to change depending on availability and seasonality): -Vegan & gluten-free sushi (chirashi sushi and rolls) -Home-style miso soup with seasonal vegetables -Seasoned mashed tofu salad (shira-ae) -Sweet bean paste and strawberry-filled mochi (ichigo daifuku) -Organic Japanese tea Your host, Chiaki, is a professional chef and local business owner. When she’s not busy running her plant-based restaurant in Nagoya or managing the operations of her organic products shop, Chiaki enjoys sharing her love for plant-based and gluten-free cooking with international visitors. Chef Chiaki draws from her extensive experience as a cooking teacher in Canada and China to create cooking classes that are both fun and educational. With that in mind, she not only teaches Japanese cooking methods, ingredients, and recipes but also explains fascinating insights about Japanese food culture and its history, finishing it off with a delicious meal for everyone to enjoy, no matter their dietary needs.
