Experience Details

The great thing about maki sushi is that there are no strict rules on fillings, allowing for creative variations. In this home cooking class, your host, Yuka, will teach you to roll sushi and prepare Japanese-style side dishes using vegan and with gluten-free ingredients and natural seasonings made with traditional methods. You'll learn innovative and classic ways to prepare dishes using seasonal vegetables and combining colors, textures, and flavors to achieve a balanced Japanese-style meal. You can make traditional sushi rolls or give them a fun, colorful twist with eye-catching fillings! You will also prepare side dishes to complete your meal and then enjoy lunch with Yuka, a warm and welcoming host from whom you can learn many fascinating aspects of Japanese culture! The host can also make this class halal-friendly by not using alcohol in the ingredients (please note that ingredients are not halal-certified). Experience flow: Greet Yuka and get to know each other Yuka will briefly go over the plan for the day, including the menu and ingredients to be used Start cooking: make maki sushi rolls and side dishes Eat lunch together Yuka follows a gluten-free diet, so she can share her favorite gluten-free restaurants and give you vegan and vegetarian recommendations in Tokyo! Sample Menu (exact contents subject to change depending on availability and seasonality): -Main dish: Sushi roll with seasonal vegetables (opt to make it the traditional way or go for the colorful version!) -Side dish: Seasonal vegetables -Pickled seasonal vegetables -Miso soup or osumashi (a Japanese clear soup with seasonal vegetables) -Rice (white or half-milled) cooked in a pot instead of a rice cooker -Japanese tea
