Best Restaurants in Gifu

The building that the restaurant is in is incredible. So much history and it's a very serene atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive and were great hosts. The food, without a doubt, was some of the best I've ever had. The meal was simple but elegant and the ingredients were fresh and classically Japanese. 10/10 meal and a fantastic memory was made.

This was by far our most memorable and enjoyable experience. We especially liked speaking with one of the family members who was the 11th generation of carrying on this tradition. Domo arigato gozai masu for treating us so well.

Our dinner at Kakusho was magical! The garden setting with private rooms was lovely, the staff was charming, and the food was the best we had during our trip.

This was the best meal I had during my two weeks in Japan. I will never forget how tender and delicious the beef was—loved the atmosphere, friendly staff, great memories.

I was able to enjoy a full course of ayu (sweetfish). Since it’s not something you get to eat often, it was a great experience. Because the reservation site isn’t commonly used by Japanese people, the staff initially mistook me for a foreign visitor. However, I recommend booking through the site whenever possible because calling during business hours seems to trouble the staff. The restaurant was so busy that they didn’t even have time to handle phone calls. I definitely recommend the flavor. It’s not cheap, but I’m glad I chose a specialty restaurant. The staff were very nice.

Whoever visits Nagoya must come here. Fish is so sweet and one of the best ramens I ever had. The chef and staff is very accommodating to non Japanese speakers. Definitely will come back again. Gochisosamadeshita.

Very special restaurant experience. Wonderful omakase selection of predominantly fish dishes. One of the chefs spoke fluent English so could provide clear explanations of all the dishes. Highly recommended if travelling to Gifu - a great destination near to several pottery museums and specialist kilns, hiking Nakasendo trail and mountain retreats.

It was an awesome and delicious japanese meal in a wonderful atmosphere!
