We enjoyed having our own personal tour guide (Keiko) to show us places we might have missed if we were on our own, especially the small shops on the quiet back roads. Good selection of food choices in Yanaka Ginza--we were stuffed at the end. We also appreciated small touches such as our guide providing a bag for our trash and hand wipes for our sticky hands. Overall, the pacing and time allotted for this tour was just right.

Our group of 6 had a wonderful tour of Uji on April 7! With excellent English, Terumi S. led the tour which focused on a wide variety of Matcha and Green Tea experiences. We especially liked Terumi putting tea-making in Japan in context by pointing out the differences as we went along. Even though it was raining we were able to do all of the activities indoors. I especially liked the tea ceremony where the women were in full kimono dress with Terumi translating the ritual. She went the extra mile to get us to our next appointment by riding the train with us and showing us the connection! Arigato for an exceptional tour!

We had a wonderful experience with Michie who spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable of the area and food. Our daughter is Coeliac and Michie made sure she was able to have gluten free safe options. Would recommend to anyone with dietary restrictions.

I really enjoyed my Flavors of Japan food tour. We toured the Nihombashi area in Tokyo in April with Ramona and Mandy. They were charming and well informed about both the area and Japanese food. They took us to speciality stores and explained about the importance of regional food, we could try some of the products. The lunch we ate was delightful! Can't remember the name of the restaurant. This tour was so enjoyable with great tour guides. Mandy and Ramona didn't make us hurry so the tour ended up being longer than it advertised.

Discover the Art of Japanese Tea in Just One Day

Dive into the tranquil world of Japanese tea with our exquisite 1-day tours. Whether you're an aficionado of green tea or a newcomer curious about its cultural significance, these tours offer a serene escape into the traditional practices surrounding this beloved beverage. Our carefully curated tours emphasize hands-on experiences, ensuring that you not only witness the beauty of tea preparation but also gain valuable insights into the storied history and nuances of Japanese tea culture.

On these tours, you'll begin your day with a visit to lush tea fields, where the vibrant green landscape stretches as far as the eye can see. Here, you'll learn the significance of hand-picking the finest leaves and understand the delicate balance that farmers maintain to produce the highest quality tea. This connection to the source emphasizes the importance of each step that brings tea from plantation to cup.

Experience Traditional Tea Ceremonies

One of the highlights of the Japanese tea 1-day tours is the opportunity to participate in a traditional tea ceremony. These ceremonies are spiritual processes rooted in Zen Buddhism and are a testament to Japan's rich cultural heritage. During the ceremony, you'll learn the detailed etiquette and methodology that transforms the simple act of making tea into an art form. Guests often find this experience to be meditative, offering a chance to disconnect from modern distractions and immerse themselves in a world of calm and focus.

Under the guidance of seasoned tea masters, you'll get a hands-on experience, preparing and enjoying matcha, a powdered green tea revered for its vibrant color and robust flavor. You’ll also gain insight into the ceremonial tools used, such as the chasen (bamboo whisk) and chawan (tea bowl), each playing a critical role in the elegance and finesse of the ceremony. This immersive encounter will not only enhance your appreciation of the tea itself but also offer an understanding of the philosophy behind the practice.

Relish in Authentic Culinary Pairings

No tea experience would be complete without savoring complementary Japanese delicacies. Throughout the day, the tours feature delectable food pairings designed to highlight and enhance the flavors of various teas. You can expect to try traditional sweets like wagashi, which not only complement the bitterness of the tea but also reflect seasonal ingredients and artistry.

Additionally, many tours include a guided tasting of different tea varieties, from sencha to genmaicha, each with unique flavor profiles and histories. As you explore the diverse spectrum of Japanese teas, you'll develop a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into every sip. The thoughtfully crafted food and tea pairings offer a holistic gastronomic journey through Japan's tea culture, ensuring a day well-spent both enlightening and satisfying to the palate.

Whether you are a seasoned tea enthusiast or simply looking for a unique cultural experience during a short stay, these Japanese Tea 1-Day Tours provide an unforgettable introduction to one of Japan’s most cherished traditions.
