Yatai Hopping with Bruce was wonderful! It was myself, my husband, mom, dad, and sister. Bruce is friendly, knowledgeable, and felt like a member of our family for the evening. Bruce knew exactly what to order and treated us to delicious dishes, such as oden, yakitori, ramen, and mochi bacon. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. If you are ever in Fukuoka, even if it's for an evening, book this tour with Bruce! Thank you again!

A good guide is knowledgeable, but a great guide has stories to tell. Bruce has lived an interesting life. This was my first group tour out of the 3 tours I had so far, 2 of which was through ByFood (including Bruce's tour). He did well to keep us all engaged in the conversation even though a couple of us weren't the chatty type. We ended up visiting 2 yatai stalls and a convenience store. We asked to pace the food as not to get full too early and risk wasting food. We had a oden and a variety of griddled dishes at the first stall. We split up the dishes family style. The second yatai was for ramen. I initially wanted to split the ramen as I was already content with the amount of food I already had. Bruce convinced another guest and myself that the ramen was so good, it would be worth the risk. He was right, I gobbled that bowl of ramen up and I probably could have gone for another. We topped off with some ice cream from a conbini and ended the night. Great night overall. Would definitely recommend Bruce to anyone looking for an intro to the Yatai culture and insights into trying the other stalls on your own.

We had such a great time yatai hopping with Bruce! It was perfect for our first night in Fukuoka, and a great introduction to the local food scene. We're still dreaming about some of the food we ate and are hoping to get back for more before our trip ends. You'll enjoy chatting w Bruce, the yatai owners, and other diners just as much as the amazing food. Highly recommend this tour for any foodies or anyone looking for an experience that's unique to Fukuoka.
