This private tea ceremony was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The house and garden are lovely. The host, Naomi, shared the culture and tradition of the tea ceremony in a manner that was both respectful and accessible to visitors to Japan. We left feeling calm and refreshed. We highly recommend this tea ceremony!

We had a great experience with our host Kaori. We enjoyed learning about the tea ceremony tradition as well as being instructed on how to make our own matcha tea. This was a fun experience!

Our host, Kaori, was very nice and friendly. She patiently explained the steps for all the participants when it was their turn and answered any questions we had. It was very cool that apart from the actual tea ceremony experience, she also introduced us to some of the history behind tea ceremonies. My partner and I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to experience a tea ceremony in a traditional building in Kyoto.

We had the best time, our tea ceremony instructor was very kind and explained the tea ceremony in detail and allowed us to do our own mancha. Our kids had a great time.

The tea ceremony was a delightful experience. Our hostess was incredibly knowledgeable about the art of tea preparation, and she guided us in making our own matcha using the techniques she taught. We were so inspired that we purchased a matcha whisk and matcha powder afterward to continue practicing at home.

Kaori provided a lovely and thorough demonstration of a traditional tea ceremony, answered all of our questions, and guided us through the process on our own. The google map link provided on booking was helpful for navigation. When we got to the location, within 5 mins ahead of our reservation time as requested in the confirmation no one was at the front and there was a sign on the door instructing to meet across the alley. When we went there we were instructed to go back, so that was a little confusing but all in all, a good experience.

Discover the Art of Kyoto Tea Ceremonies

Immerse yourself in the timeless tradition of Kyoto tea ceremonies, where every moment is crafted with care and respect. Known for its historical significance and stunning landscapes, Kyoto offers a serene backdrop for an authentic tea ceremony experience. These ceremonies are more than just about drinking tea; they are a delicate representation of Japanese culture and aesthetics, emphasizing harmony and mindfulness in each step. As a city rich in cultural heritage, Kyoto is the perfect place to explore this ancient art form—making it an unforgettable part of your journey.

Savor Pescetarian Delights in an Authentic Setting

For those who prefer a pescetarian diet, these tea ceremonies in Kyoto provide a delightful array of dishes that complement the serene tea experience. Fresh, locally sourced seafood and seasonal vegetables are thoughtfully prepared to align with the pescetarian ethos and highlight the rich culinary traditions of Japan. Expect elegant presentations that mirror the tea ceremony's precision, ensuring that each dish not only satisfies your palette but also enriches your understanding of Japanese culinary arts. Whether it's delicate sashimi or savory fish-based dishes, the options cater to diverse tastes while respecting dietary choices.

Embrace Tranquility and Tradition

Participating in a tea ceremony is about more than the taste of tea and accompanying pescetarian dishes. It is an invitation to slow down and appreciate the present moment amid Kyoto’s tranquil gardens and historical tea houses. Each ceremony is led by hosts trained in the chaji, or tea gathering, who will guide you through procedures that include tea preparation, serving, and etiquette. This educational experience not only illustrates the beauty of the ritual but also sheds light on the spiritual philosophy behind it. As you participate, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for the precise gestures and the care that go into each cup and dish. The tea ceremony experience, set against Kyoto's serene natural beauty, offers a perfect retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle.
