Fukuya

Fukuya is a charming restaurant nestled in the serene surroundings of Kamada, Itō, Shizuoka. Known for its exquisite Unagi (eel) dishes, Fukuya offers a unique dining experience that highlights traditional eel cookery. The restaurant is particularly famous for its unadon, a delectable eel rice bowl, where the eel is expertly grilled to achieve a crispy exterior and a tender, fluffy interior. A soy sauce-based dipping sauce and wasabi are provided to enhance the flavors, and diners can enjoy a comforting broth at the end of their meal to create ochazuke with the remaining eel and rice. Located about 15 minutes from Ito city along a picturesque mountain road, Fukuya provides a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. The restaurant's warm and attentive service complements its cozy atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for intimate gatherings. With limited seating, Fukuya serves only four groups at a time, ensuring a personalized dining experience. The restaurant is run by the owner, whose dedication to quality is evident in every dish. His son operates another restaurant called Ichiman, continuing the family's culinary legacy. Fukuya operates from 11 AM until its daily quota is met, serving approximately 15 customers each day. Reservations are not accepted, and the restaurant closes once the daily limit is reached. Notably, Fukuya does not serve alcohol, allowing the focus to remain on the exceptional eel dishes.
