You have to think about this as more of an experience than a meal if you are not used to the cuisine. As an experience this was AMAZING. As a meal, there were definitely aspects that were not as enjoyable. Namely, the fast pace and the taste of some of the dishes. If you are not an adventurous eater or do not enjoy Japanese cuisine this might not be for you. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience for us given the scenery, the traditional style of eating, and the chance to try dishes we normally would not have.

This was a wonderful experience! You have to walk a little bit to get to it but it's worth it. They provide great service and a wide variety of tasty (and unique to us) bites. You get to dine on the peaceful river. We were very glad we did this experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting the Hakone area

Friendly service, excellent food, beautiful riverside setting. We arrived after an afternoon walking in the rain around Hakone. The heated seats were a blessing!

Family of three. Had dinner seated outdoors so not much of a view at night although the river sounds were soothing. Enjoyed the hotpot menu from awa shoyu, appetiser to the dessert. I must add that the warishita broth of yam and egg just didn’t work with the beef as it imparted a gooey texture. We requested for the beef and vegetables from the hotpot to be placed on a separate plate, and that saved the rest of the meal. Would recommend this place for date night.

Running down the coast south of Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture has some of the nicest beach towns, most historic culture, and beautiful nature in central Japan. From Yokohama Chinatown to the shopping streets of the historic capital Kamakura, this region isn’t short on culinary treats, either.
Nikuman pork buns from China, delicious curry down in Yokosuka City, and fantastic local ramen are just a few to name. If you’re crazy about noodles, you can even head to a fully-fledged ramen museum in Yokohama too!
In Kanagawa, variety is the spice of life. Within the space of a one-hour train ride you can pass through laidback port towns and some of the biggest metropolises in the country.
