Watch the maiko perform traditional dances
Those lucky enough get to spot the elusive geisha on the move in the streets of Kyoto. It’s a notoriously closed-off practice despite its worldwide fame, as geishas often perform for private events and select establishments. Get to take a rare look into the historic geisha culture with a delicious Kyoto-style dinner and entertainment from a maiko (an apprentice geisha). The experience opens with dinner, featuring a meal from an established Kyoto-style restaurant. The meal will be kaiseki style, featuring seasonal ingredients. You can enjoy the local cuisine paired with the maiko’s dance performance. While geishas are often praised for their dance performances, their entertainment doesn’t end there– their versatile skill sets include game activities. This experience includes games led by the maikos, which guests are encouraged to participate in. You can get the opportunity to get to know geisha culture through the Q&A session, in which the maiko will answer any curiosities you might have. If you’re wondering about taking pictures, don’t worry– you’ll have the opportunity to take a commemorative photo with the maiko and are also welcome to take pictures of them.
