Experience Details

Nachikatsuura is where bluefin tuna is at its freshest, shaped by the rich waters off Wakayama Prefecture and a long-standing fishing culture that defines the town.

While tuna can be found across Japan, this is one of the places where it feels most closely connected to everyday life.

In this exclusive experience, you step into Nachikatsuura Fish Market after closing hours, when the space is quiet and reserved for a different kind of encounter.

There, a local tuna specialist introduces you to the process behind one of Japan’s most valued fish, from cutting techniques to the different parts used in Japanese cuisine.

You will watch a live tuna-cutting demonstration and learn how each section is prepared and appreciated. The focus is on understanding the craft, guided by someone who works closely with tuna every day.

After the demonstration, you will enjoy a premium dining course featuring fresh tuna prepared in three ways: sashimi, sushi, and grilled. Each serving highlights a different texture and flavor, paired with all-you-can-drink beverages for a relaxed finish.

This experience offers a rare look at the market beyond its famous early-morning auctions, giving you time to connect with the culture and expertise that make Nachikatsuura known for its tuna.
