Experience Details
A classic and comforting combination, a steamy bowl of ramen served alongside a dish of crispy gyoza is a staple of Japanese cuisine. Delve into the country’s food culture by learning to make it yourself, guided by a Kobe local who will share her best home cooking secrets to achieve a deliciously rich ramen and crisp-perfect gyoza.
Your host, Ayumi, will welcome you into her apartment in a residential and scenic area of Kobe. Here, get a glimpse of everyday life in Japan as you step into the Japanese-style apartment to begin your cooking class. After introducing the ingredients and the flow of the class, Ayumi will guide you through making your delicious meal. You’ll start with ramen, preparing a shoyu (soy sauce) broth and cooking the premade ramen noodles. After that, you’ll add an assortment of colorful toppings like pork, egg, nori seaweed and green onion to complete your ramen.
It’ll then be time to prepare your gyoza dumplings. Guided by your host, you’ll make gyoza wrappers from scratch, fill them with vegetables, beef and pork and deep-fry them to crisp perfection.
After your meal is finished, enjoy your delicious homemade lunch with your host. Before bidding farewell, you’ll receive a cute souvenir to remember the experience by: a pair of wooden chopsticks inside a holder made of origami paper with mizuhiki decorations. This cooking class is the perfect way to enjoy a homecooked meal away from home and learn a few new recipes along the way.
