Nada Gogo, known as the 'Five Villages of Nada,' has been crafting exceptional sake since 1330. This coastal cluster, 12 kilometers from central Kobe and Nishinomiya, is a testament to centuries of sake perfection. Treasured for its crisp, dry taste, Nada's sake draws its character from the medium-hard water called Miyamizu, making it a sake lover's dream.
Your adventure begins along the Hanshin Railway, where breweries dot the landscape. Stroll down Sake Brewery Street, flanked by independent museums that hold the secrets of sake production. The tour starts at Hamafukutsuru Brewery, where you'll witness the sake-making magic through glass-walled facilities that bring brewing to life.
Next stop, visit the Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewery Museum. Engage with sake's art and tradition, exploring exhibits, including 'Nada's sake brewing equipment,' a national treasure! Unearth the passion and commitment behind sake production. Then, onto the Kiku Masamune Meister Factory, a working lab preserving the fantastic taste of 'Taru Sake.' Immerse yourself in Kikumasamune's essence, savor top-notch 'taru sake,' and discover generations-old secrets.
Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum gives a glimpse into a Taisho-era sake brewery preserved for all to see. Discover the sake-making tradition passed down through generations and capture photos in traditional Japanese uniforms. Wrap it up at Nada Gogo Brewery, a former sake brewery turned restaurant where you’ll sample sake from 26 local breweries and savor seasonal, local dishes.
During the tour, savor ten renowned sake varieties from three Nada standouts: Hamafukutsuru, Kikumasamune, and Hakutsuru.
