Experience Details
Oyakodon may sound unusual at first, but this comforting bowl of chicken and egg over rice is one of Japan’s most loved home-cooked meals. Simple ingredients come together with careful timing to create a dish that is warm, satisfying, and easy to enjoy year-round.
In this hands-on Tokyo class, you will learn to make oyakodon from scratch with Yuki, a local home cook teaching in her grandmother’s renovated kitchen.
She will guide you through each step, from preparing the ingredients to cooking and presenting the dish with care.
You will learn to lightly cook the chicken, build a rich, savory sauce, and finish the dish with a soft layer of eggs. Alongside your main dish, you will also prepare miso soup, a staple of Japanese home cooking.
Throughout the class, Yuki will share insights into the techniques and cultural background behind each recipe.
After cooking, you will enjoy your freshly made meal in a relaxed setting.
At the end of the experience, you will receive the recipes in English so you can recreate this comforting dish at home.
