Experience Details
This group-friendly experience begins with a private dinner at a local restaurant, followed by a traditional Japanese Shishimai lion dance performance.
Shishimai dances are lively and highly associated with Shinto festivals. The energetic performance often involves audience interaction, and if the lion “bites” your head, it is said to bring very good luck.
Your evening starts when an English-speaking guide meets you at Cocono Susukino, about 10 minutes by train from Sapporo Station. From there, you will be escorted to the restaurant you selected when booking.
About an hour into your meal, the Shishimai lion dance will begin. Your guide will take photos during the performance and host a short Q&A session afterward, giving you the chance to learn more about this exciting tradition.
Small groups can enjoy dinner at Suginome, a Hokkaido kaiseki restaurant serving dishes such as potatoes, salmon, and crab, with a history of over 60 years. Hokkai Shabu-Shabu offers hot pot dishes with views over the town.
Larger groups of 20 or more can choose Kita no Aji Osuke, which features a custom stage made of Japanese cypress, or Otaru Bettei, which has a spacious hall suitable for dinner parties.
Groups of 10 or more can also enjoy a lounge afterparty at the Special Club. Please enquire with the host for these options.
The default restaurant is Suginome. For other choices, select them using the options tab or contact the host directly when booking.

- Groups will be guided to Suginome restaurant by default. Please book using the options tab or inquire upon booking to select one of the other restaurant options.
- Upon booking, please provide the following information: full name, date of birth, and dietary restrictions of each guest. The phone number of one representative from the group will also be required.
- The number of people in your group will be a deciding factor when selecting the restaurant. For big groups, please enquire directly with the host.
- Please inform the host of any dietary requirements or allergies upon booking. Please note that none of the restaurants prepare halal-certified foods.
- Theater manners during the performance are appreciated for the safety and enjoyment of guests and dancers.
