Experience Details

Discover the variety of Japanese sushi in this hands-on cooking class in Ninomiya. While many people associate sushi with raw fish, Japan is home to many delicious sushi styles that highlight vegetables, egg, tofu, and seasoned rice.

In this class, you'll choose one of four popular sushi varieties and learn how to make it from scratch.

Each menu showcases a different side of Japanese sushi. You might make colorful temari sushi, bite-sized sushi balls topped with fish, egg, and vegetables, or chirashi sushi, a vibrant bowl of sushi rice topped with an assortment of ingredients.

Other options include kazari inari sushi, featuring sweet fried tofu pockets filled with rice, egg, and vegetables, or maki sushi, beautifully rolled sushi filled with fish, egg, and vegetables, and served with inari-zushi.

A great sushi meal starts with perfectly prepared rice, so you'll also learn how to cook and season Japanese short-grain rice, the foundation of sushi.

To complete the meal, you'll make miso soup from scratch using dashi prepared with bonito flakes and kelp, two essential ingredients in Japanese home cooking.

Choose one of the following menu options, each served with miso soup: kazari inari sushi, temari sushi, chirashi sushi, or maki sushi with inari-zushi.
