Experience Details

Join Aoki-san, a certified cooking instructor, for a hands-on vegetarian cooking class in Setagaya, Tokyo. You’ll learn to make colorful temari sushi, vegetable kakiage, and tasty side dishes, all in a relaxed and fun environment.

These bite-sized sushi spheres are visually stunning, easy to assemble, and simple to recreate at home. In this class, you’ll make five types of temari sushi, such as shiitake mushroom, red paprika, eggplant, broccoli, and carrot with Japanese pumpkin, while learning to make and shape vinegared sushi rice and decorate each piece with care.

After crafting your temari sushi, you’ll move on to vegetable kakiage, a crispy tempura dish made from thinly sliced vegetables, and prepare side dishes including tofu salad with homemade sesame dressing and miso soup.

Aoki-san is the owner of her own cooking salon and has been teaching since February 2022. Her mission is to make Japanese cooking fun and approachable for everyone, sharing her tips and techniques so you can create gourmet-quality meals at home.

Temari sushi is the star of the class, inspired by traditional Japanese temari toys, where each piece resembles a small, colorful hand ball. While temari sushi is often made with seafood, this class puts a vegetarian spin on it, keeping the flavors fresh, vibrant, and satisfying.

This experience is perfect for anyone who wants to explore Japanese cooking hands-on, learn authentic techniques, and leave with the confidence to recreate these dishes at home.
