A great session with Takako, learning about Japanese home cooking and the benefits for fermented foods. Tasted koji, kombu, mirin and a variety of soy sauces. Takako then made some healthy and delicious dishes, which was a good change from some heavier restaurant meals. The recipes were also provided! Would definitely recommend.

Every detail—from the origin of the leaves to the subtle differences in processing methods—was explained with such clarity and passion that it transformed each sip into a story. You could tell this wasn’t just expertise; it was a genuine love for the craft. The tea itself was absolutely exquisite. Each variety we sampled was more nuanced and flavorful than the last, with layers of aroma and taste I had never noticed before. The experience was paired with a thoughtfully prepared selection of food that complemented the teas beautifully. Every bite felt intentional, enhancing the tasting experience and making the whole session feel indulgent without being overwhelming. What surprised me most was just how fun it all was. We had such a great time! I highly recommend booking. The classroom/kitchen was easy to find & not only will you eat yummy food but you will also taste all the different Japanese ingredients. This is the best class for anyone who loves cooking. It is also a new and fun class for those who don't like cooking. Also, this cafe, which hosts this tour, is very friendly and caring to everyone. It has various souvenirs made with kome rice, and it is a very nice cafe that is eco-friendly. I will try to make onigiri in the way they taught me. If you go to Tokyo, Japan, you should definitely take this class. Not only will you have fun, you can also eat your own delicious onigiri. この店最高 :)

Our friend group did this cooking class together on our first trip to Japan and the ladies were both so sweet and helpful. Everything we learned to make was much easier than expected and the printed instructions are so easy for us to follow at home for a delicious traditional meal.
