Marie was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tea and the fermented food tastings were excellent. She was a pleasure and we had a wonderful time.

Each variety we sampled was more nuanced and flavorful than the last, with layers of aroma and taste I had never noticed before. The experience was paired with a thoughtfully prepared selection of food that complemented the teas beautifully. Every bite felt intentional, enhancing the tasting experience and making the whole session feel indulgent without being overwhelming. What surprised me most was just how fun it all was. This wasn’t a stiff or overly formal class—it was engaging, interactive, and filled with moments of delight and discovery. We laughed, asked questions, compared favorites, and left feeling not only more knowledgeable but genuinely inspired. All in all, this private tea tasting was an unforgettable experience and such a unique, enjoyable way to explore the world of tea. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone—even those who think they already know tea.

The tasting was great and very informative. We learned all the basics while tasting many different styles of Sake. Julian was the best of hosts and a very knowledgeable teacher. The snacks were great and he was able to adapt to my wife’s gluten intolerance. We definitely recommend.

This was a very informative and excellent experience. The folks at the Japan Sake and Shochu Information Center are very knowledgeable and represent the community of Sake and Shochu makers professionally and with respect for the integrity of the art. We learned so much in one hour and we walked away with meaningful and valuable gifts that we were not expecting at all. The presentation packed enough information that gave us an appreciation for the complexity of the characteristics of sake and left us inspired to learn more. Definitely choose to learn from these industry experts. You won’t see sake the same after this.

We really enjoyed our guided tasting and educational talk with Shuso yesterday. Fantastic experience. We’ll travel now with a much better understanding of japan’s food and sake culture.

I work in the spirits & tourism industry and this was a truly special experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable, professional and personable and an excellent host. The information shared on the tasting was, at first glance, quite surface level, but we asked quite a lot of questions and so were given a good deal of extra information which went further than what was presented. The samples served were all delicious, and very different from each other, and very generous in amount as well. We learnt a lot and would definitely recommend this to other guests. I had a fantastic time. I was the only person so the one-on-one discussion was a plus for me. I learned a lot, got a feal for which sake types are good for me, and also really enjoyed the restaurant area we were in.

A great introductory session to sake. We really loved the lesson and the quiz. If you have 60 minutes, this is 100% worth it - if anything, try and do this BEFORE you hit the town and get a little knowledge and history under your belt!

We had a fantastic time at the Sake and Shochu Information Center! The Sake tasting included a short informative presentation and a tasting of 8 sakes. There was even a fun little quiz at the end, which we thought was very fun! Our hosts were very accommodating and kind. We would definitely recommend this experience to others!
