This cooking class is a triple threat! You learn culture, cook and eat delicious food, and have a lot of fun doing it! Rina is a kind and gracious host. We had four people in our group, including 1 vegan, and she adjusted our dishes according to this special diet. We enjoyed ourselves a lot!

We had an amazing experience with Rina! We cooked four Okinawan dishes and she was able to accommodate both vegan and non-vegan recipes. Rina was very friendly, provided clear directions, and was an excellent teacher.

We had an absolutely wonderful time cooking with Rina! She was so kind and so knowledgeable about all aspects of Okinawan food, and she answered all of our (many!) questions. We had lovely chats, and her cooking instructions were very clear. We had so much fun cooking every dish, and I cannot overstate how delicious they all were!! I can't wait to make them at home. Thank you for welcoming us into your home and giving us such a fantastic experience, Rina!

Rina was an exceptional hostess and chef who is very knowledgeable and care about Okinawan food ingredients and cooking techniques. She efficiently prepared the class around preparing and cooking 4 wonderful dishes that ended up with us prepping our own bento lunch which we then ate. It was a fun time to chat with Rina and learning about Okinawan ingredients and dishes. It was time well spent!

Rina-san is incredibly knowledgeable about food in general, and Ryūkyū cuisine in particular. She's easy-going, open-hearted, and instantly makes you feel welcome. The whole experience is thoughtfully prepared, enjoyable, and never intimidating — even if you're not confident in the kitchen. Rina-san is endlessly patient, and she'll explain or demonstrate as many times as needed, always with a smile. You'll cook four dishes simultaneously, but the flow is smooth and natural. Nothing feels rushed, and there’s no food waste. Every dish complements the others beautifully — both in flavor and spirit. In a nutshell: If you're curious about going deeper into Okinawan food culture — book this experience. If you want to see what happens when skill and generosity meet in one person — book this experience.

We enjoyed learning to cook Okinawan healthy dishes like Stir-fried cut combu, Goya champura and Shiraae from Rina. She gave each of us various tasks from prepping to cooking. We were amazed to see our finished dishes looking "instagram" worthy to post. Especially after plating in our bento boxes. We loved and enjoyed eating our lunch bento!

Cooking with Rina was truly fantastic. Her home was perfect for the occasion – cozy, welcoming, and ideal for a culinary experience. Rina explained everything clearly and patiently, demonstrating each step slowly while sharing interesting details about the ingredients, why they are important, and how they benefit our health. In addition to the cooking, she also told us a lot about Okinawa, its culture, and food traditions, which added a special depth to the experience. At the end, we all sat down together and enjoyed everything we had prepared – and it was delicious! Rina is a wonderful and patient teacher who made this experience truly special and unforgettable. We also took home the recipes, which will definitely come in handy. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for more than just a cooking class – this was a real experience! Thanks a lot. The Private Cooking Class was a heartwarming and tasty experience on one of our last days in Okinawa! We loved chatting and cooking with Rina and hearing stories about how her grandmother inspired her on this journey 🫶🏻 Our toddler daughter was also warmly welcomed, even though it was challenging to have her around at times! Thank you Rina for your patience and your big heart 🧡 We’re hoping to meet you again in the future.

We had so much fun taking Rina's cooking class. Excellent cooking materials and everything was very well organized. The food was delicious, and we got to take the recipes home. Would definitely recommend if you want more insight on Okinawan cuisine and ingredients, and more generally if you love cooking.

Really enjoyed our session with Rina!! She picked us up from the monorail station, which made it really convenient to get to her place. Moreover she was readily available over email from the day we booked the event. She was warm, personable and communicated well in English with us. She had a carefully selected menu that introduced us to local Okinawan ingredients like goya, mozuku, Okinawan bonito, awamori, beni-imo and other Japanese ingredients such as kombu, bonito, konyaku, Japanese mountain yam, mochi etc. Her professional kitchen in her home gave both a pro- and a home cooking flavor to the whole session. She guided giving us hands-on opportunities with chopping, mixing, frying, ... while we sipped Japanese tea through the evening. The resulting meal, arranged traditionally in the bento boxes, was as delicious as it was beautiful. The star of the evening was the dessert- mochi wrapped in tender ginger leaves (from her garden!) and steamed in a bamboo steamer. Our time (and money!) was very well-spent and I would recommend her highly to anyone interested in an evening of Japanese cooking.
