Having eaten sushi all over Japan, Sushidokoro Nakatani stands out as an exceptional omakase experience. The quality of the fish is outstanding, handled with precision and deep respect for seasonality, and paired with beautifully balanced rice. Every piece felt intentional and perfectly timed. What truly sets this counter apart is the hospitality. Chef Nakatani and his wife are incredibly warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere from the moment you sit down. Each piece is thoughtfully explained — the cut, the preparation, and the story behind it — making the experience engaging even for seasoned sushi lovers. The space is intimate and elegant, the conversation natural, and the pacing unhurried. Refined yet genuinely human, this is the kind of omakase that reminds you why sushi is as much about connection as it is about technique. A standout in Osaka.

Very nice and fresh

The meal was very interesting as it showed different ways of serving puffer fish. We enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had with excellent Kimoto saki. Chef nakatani was good natured and funny. It was an all around great time
