Description
Asakusa Ichimon Main Branch is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Tokyo's historic Asakusa district. This restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines traditional Japanese hospitality with a rich culinary heritage. Specializing in Izakaya-style dining, Asakusa Ichimon Main Branch is renowned for its exquisite nabe dishes, particularly the Negima Nabe, a delightful hot pot featuring fresh tuna and green onions, lightly cooked in a flavorful broth seasoned with kombu and shiitake.
In addition to its signature nabe, the restaurant also serves a variety of whale dishes and homemade tofu, catering to adventurous palates. Guests can also savor braised black Wagyu beef tendon, shumai, and seasonal natural fish sashimi, ensuring a diverse and satisfying meal.
Located at 3-chōme-12-6 Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo, Asakusa Ichimon Main Branch is easily accessible from Asakusa Station and is near the Nishiasakusa 3-chome intersection. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully renovated 70-year-old inn, exuding Edo period charm with its traditional Japanese house style. The interior features private rooms with sliding doors, samurai helmet displays, a waterwheel, and irori seating, creating an authentic and immersive atmosphere.
Managed by second-generation owner Yoshinobu Hirakawa and his son Ryotaro, the restaurant prides itself on its attentive and polite service. The staff are eager to offer recommendations, and some members speak English, making it a welcoming destination for international visitors. An English menu is available, and guests can enjoy an all-you-can-drink option, enhancing the overall dining experience.
