Watahan
Shabu Shabu
Experience the essence of Japan’s refined spirit through sukiyaki and shabu-shabu crafted with premium Kobe and Sanda Beef.
Restaurant Details
Nestled in the heart of Kobe, Watahan invites guests to experience Japan’s refined culinary artistry through wagyu, wa-space, and wa-hospitality. This specialised sukiyaki and shabu-shabu restaurant celebrates the elegance of Japanese tradition with a serene, wood-accented interior and warm, personal service.
The highlight of Watahan is its Kansai-style sukiyaki, made with premium Sanda Beef and Kobe Beef. Each slice of beef is first seared in local soy sauce and zarame sugar before being enjoyed not with egg, but with grated Tororo yam from Tanba — a signature Watahan twist that enhances the beef’s natural sweetness and texture.
All ingredients are carefully selected, from A5 Tajima Kobe Beef (BMS 6+) to seasonal produce sourced from Tanba, including aromatic matsutake mushrooms and handmade tofu.
The restaurant’s Binchotan-grilled beef, seasonal side dishes, and Nada sake pairings express the harmony between Japanese craftsmanship and flavour.
The space itself offers tranquility in the bustle of Sannomiya, with private rooms, counter seating, and table options suitable for celebrations, business dinners, and special occasions. Guests can also enjoy proximity to Ikuta Shrine and the Kitano Ijinkan area, making it an ideal dining stop during sightseeing.
Blending regional flavours, traditional technique, and heartfelt hospitality, Watahan offers an immersive culinary journey — a true expression of Japan’s “Iki” (refined spirit).
