Experience Details
North of Hiroshima City, Miyoshi offers a quiet escape where cobblestone streets and preserved buildings reveal a glimpse of Japan’s past.
In this private tour, a certified prefectural interpreter-guide will lead you through the town’s history, local streets, and cultural highlights.
The highlight of the experience is a visit to Rai Kyohei’s house, also known as Unpekikyo. Built over 200 years ago, it once served as the home of a local magistrate and is now a carefully preserved historic residence.
There, you will experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony and enjoy matcha with wagashi while overlooking a peaceful Japanese garden.
Your journey begins at Hiroshima Station, where you will take a train with your guide to Miyoshi. Upon arrival, you will stroll through the town’s cobblestone streets and visit a local confectionery shop to purchase wagashi, which you will later enjoy during your tea ceremony.
You will then stop for lunch at a local restaurant, with set meal options such as fried chicken or curry.
After lunch, you can continue exploring Miyoshi at a relaxed pace, with flexibility to adjust your route if you prefer to visit specific spots or use local transport instead of walking.
Later, you will visit Unpekikyo to tour the historic home and learn about its history, then take part in the tea ceremony. You will enjoy matcha paired with the wagashi you selected earlier, and also learn how to whisk matcha under the guidance of a tea master.
After the experience, you will return to Miyoshi Station and take an express bus back to Hiroshima.
