Experience Details
Step into the charming world of temari sushi in a traditional sushi school in Nara, where food becomes art.
Temari, meaning "handball," were once intricately embroidered balls used as toys and decorations. Today, their colorful, perfectly round shapes inspire bite-sized sushi, originally served to Kyoto geisha so they could enjoy sushi without smudging their makeup.
In this hands-on workshop, your instructor will guide you through every step, from making perfectly seasoned sushi rice to choosing and combining fresh fillings. As you shape each sushi ball by hand, you’ll explore textures, colors, and flavors, creating unique, beautiful bites that are as tasty as they are eye-catching.
See the bright sashimi, crisp vegetables, and delicate garnishes. Each sushi ball tells its own story through color and flavor.
The intimate classroom allows guests to move freely, take photos, and fully enjoy the process. When your sushi is complete, savor a local somen soup, refreshing matcha ice cream, and a non-alcoholic drink.
Celebrate your creations with a commemorative photo, a graduation certificate, and a small ceremony marking your mastery of Temari Sushi.
This workshop teaches you useful skills, sparks your creativity, and lets you enjoy a true taste of Japanese tradition. Each sushi ball is a small, playful, Insta-worthy masterpiece you made yourself.
