In this village, you’ll visit the Aurora River Camp, a cozy and authentic setting by the river. Here we’ll prepare local meats over an open fire inside a traditional Sámi tent (lavvu), creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As you enjoy the meal, your guide will share stories about the Sámi people, their culture, and the rich history of Lapland. You’ll learn about life in the Arctic, traditions that have been passed down for generations, and the deep connection the Sámi have with nature.

To give you the best chance of witnessing the Aurora Borealis, we’ll drive to different viewing spots around Kiruna, following clear skies and the best conditions. Your experienced guides know how to read the weather and are skilled at finding this magical natural phenomenon. Each outing is unique—you never know what surprises the Arctic night will bring, which makes the experience all the more unforgettable.

The tour guide was...

The tour guide was excellent, and the dinner was delicious in a beautiful Sami tent! We were unable to see the northern lights in the end, but that is just mother nature. We did our best though. Great experience!

Our first hunt

Sony was a great guide! We were picked up at the hotel and had a nice dinner as he gave us an introduction into Sami culture and history. We the headed out to hunt for the northern lights knowing the probability would be low due to the clouds. We saw a reindeer, stood on a frozen lake, but unfortunately we did not see northern lights this time around. The tour was still worth it.

Beautiful experience between Sami dinner and Northern Lights

My girlfriend and I took this tour which we highly recommend. Our guide Henrik loved it because he made the environment very warm, very inclusive and very entertaining. He worried if we were cold and needed heavier clothing and then took us to the Sami-style lavvu tent where the dinner took place. As we watched him cook reindeer meat with vegetables in the fire, he told us the story and some anecdotes about Sami culture and passed on his love and passion for nature.
