This experience was made super special by these wonderful and open-minded hosts! The chef is a very patient teacher, bringing you closer to the Japanese cuisine in a funny and heartfelt way. His wife is incredibly kind and forthcoming as well. We had the feeling we were cooking with our dear friends. The food was exceptionally delicious - one could feel the experience of the chef in every single bite. The beautiful notes we received when leaving will forever remind us of this incredible evening. It was an honor to be welcomed in their home! 10/10 would do it again immediately, just to be with such friendly people again. P.S.: We will be back for the massage chair anyways.

We had a wonderful time at this tea ceremony, led by Hiromi Fujiwara together with Eclat, and two of her lovely colleagues. From the moment we arrived it felt personal rather than touristy. Before the ceremony, they gave us a tour of the house and shared its history, including old photos of the family who owned it and the story of their brewing heritage. It gave real context to everything that followed. The ceremony itself was beautifully done. We went through each stage: waiting, purifying ourselves much like at a Buddhist temple, and then the ceremony. We were served sake beforehand, and sweets both before and during. Hiromi and her team explained every step clearly and guided us so we could take part rather than just watch, which made it much more meaningful. Afterwards we could choose an additional activity. We all picked calligraphy, and it was a lot of fun. Throughout, there was time to chat and get to know our hosts, who were kind and welcoming. As a final touch, they gave us our calligraphy to take home, along with matcha powder in a lovely box. A thoughtful, hands-on introduction to Japanese tea culture. Highly recommended!

This experience and the host, Junko, were amazing! She catered the experience to my interests in local produce and we had a great time picking up local sweets, buying local produce for our meal (as well as some fun fruits I wanted to try) and had an overall amazing time! I’m so happy with what I learned making noodles from scratch, ramen, and mochi! They were all relatively easy and quick to make and it was so fun to do, I can’t wait to try my newly acquired skills and the recipes at home! Thank you so much Junko and I couldn’t recommend this experience more for anyone looking to learn new skills and experience a lovely time cooking and learning!

This was such an amazing experience for me! Tomokita is truly lovely and opens her heart and home to teach you how to cook. She is incredibly patient and guides you through the whole process, making you feel comfortable and welcome from start to finish. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo. I never knew Kichi Kichi Omurice had a class until I found out through byFood and when I tell you that I RAN to sign up, I’m not kidding. It was so worth it! Chef Motokichi is a great mentor and teacher and so inspirational. To not only be in the company of someone who is a master of his craft but to also be able to learn from him is a dream. I can’t wait to hopefully be able to go again and to report how I’ve been practicing what he taught me at home~

I had an amazing experience with Motokichi-san. At first I was very nervous since I don't have much cooking experience, but soon I noticed that worry was unnecessary. He taught us in a very entertaining and easy-to-learn way even by wasting literally a carton of eggs... At the end one of our friends were able to make the very definition of "Omu rice" that melts down with a slight knife cut! I would absolutely recommend this experience to those who visit Kyoto

We walked around the market and saw fishmongers at work, while turret trucks were moving around. It felt like a hidden part of the world , but the atmosphere was incredibly lively and energetic. I was amazed by the incredible variety of fish. Each ingredient is handled with great care and attention to detail. Our hosts, Paco and Alessio, were also super knowledgeable and gave us interesting explanations about the names of the fish and how to properly handle each ingredient. They are both passionate about food, with a broad understanding of Japanese food culture. My favorite part of this experience was learning why Japanese people have such a deep connection with fish and how fish has been an important part of Japanese food culture and everyday life. I highly recommend this experience. A must-join experience for anyone interested in Japanese food culture!

We are two Swedish friends who chose to try cooking in Okinawa with Rina. We had high expectations that she fulfilled and so much more. The evening began with a warm welcome into her home. She spoke in detail - in perfect English - about Okinawan culture, daily life, stories about local ingredients and traditions. At the same time, we got to try new exciting dishes and cooking methods while she enriched every step with lots of information and knowledge. We ended the evening full and satisfied and with a newfound attraction to the exciting Okinawan cuisine. Many thanks to Rina for everything. We highly recommend her course to all food-interested visitors to this beautiful island.

Amazing class and instructors! Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable and it was fascinating to learn about different types of miso, where they originated in Japan, annd anbout other garments like Amazake! I’m now inspired by the fermentation of koji and can’t wait to try at home. Arigatou gozaimasu for the experience and I will be back for more Amazake as well! Couldn’t recommend the experience more!

Nice host, Japanese mun teacher, exoerienced around shop let me know more about Japanese culture, and show me some insteresting food in supermarket, she can speak well English, no worry about communication, and she is happy mun, we have happy cooking time, she told me a lot of think let me deely know more about Japan, I got a amazing experience in Japan today, I appreciated this trip joined her cookingcl class, and I will join again next time.

My ramen-making experience at Ramen Dojo was one of those special experiences that I will remember long after leaving Japan. Sensei Yoku was absolutely wonderful—patient, welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing the art of making ramen. There is something incredibly rewarding about learning the process step by step, working with your own hands, and then sitting down to enjoy a bowl of ramen that you actually created yourself. What made the experience especially memorable was Sensei Yoku. He made the class feel personal rather than simply another tourist activity, and I left with a much greater appreciation for the skill, tradition, and care that goes into something as seemingly simple as a bowl of ramen. I’ve taken several hands-on classes during my travels, and these are often the experiences I treasure the most because they allow you to connect with the people and culture in a completely different way. Ramen Dojo was exactly that kind of experience. Thank you, Sensei Yoku, for sharing your knowledge, your patience, and a little piece of Japanese culture with me. An absolutely fantastic experience and an easy five stars!
