The fool-proof yakiniku joint adheres to the credo “simple is best,” where precision and subtraction elevate its beef cuts to a class of their own.
Restaurant Details
The ambiance of this Osaka joint is sultry yet vibrant, with a nostalgic retro flair. Exposed silver exhaust pipes, faux old-fashioned posters and dark wood accents cloud the space in a vintage haze, while the open kitchen prompts the feeling of stepping into the behind-the-scenes world of a classic Showa-era hole-in-the-wall restaurant.
Managed by the meat-loving Mannoya company, Yakiniku Manno was established to open diners’ eyes to the wide possibilities contained within a single cow. After operating as a wholesaler for nearly a century and perfecting its original style of beef, the team noticed that customers rarely purchased its more adventurous cuts. As purveyors of extremely fresh beef, cut with exacting techniques and specialized knives, Manno was determined to open diners to the quality of beef that goes beyond the average steak, inviting guests to savor it in three distinct ways.
Today, the yakiniku joint operates under the Japanese philosophy of simplicity and subtraction. With daily deliveries of organ cuts showcasing up to 90 distinct flavors and textures, each piece is prepared at the height of freshness. Rather than aging beef from young cows — a process that often takes weeks, if not months — Manno serves mature cattle ten days after butchering. By concentrating on its distinguished cattle called “Premium Queen’s Beef” sourced from trusted farms, Manno presents the exceptional allure of mature beef.
This venue returns to the wide breadth of cuts available while committing itself to serving A-ranked beef. It’s also been crowned as one of the top 100 yakiniku restaurants in Japan twice.
