Farm-to-Table Matsusaka Beef Sukiyaki at a Farmer’s Inn

Spend the night at a farmer’s inn, harvest veggies, collect spring water, and make a luxurious sukiyaki hot pot with Matsusaka wagyu. This rare beef is native to Mie, and only 2500 Matsusaka cattle are available each year, making it highly coveted.

Just 4 hours from Osaka, we found a hidden gem in a cozy little town in Mie 🌿💚 Stayed at the cutest farm-to-table guesthouse and WOW — talk about peace, nature, and mouthwatering MatsusakaBeef 😍🔥 The hosts were absolute sweethearts — they surprised us with matcha & adorable Japanese doll gifts 🎁🍵So wholesome, so welcoming 🥹💕 If you’re headed to Japan, add this spot to your list ✨ Already dreaming of our next visit

Loved this experience. Hosts were very friendly and caring. Unfortunately due to the timing, I could only do tea picking, but to make up for it, they took me to a park, to the mountains etc. They were proactively offering to take pictures and helping me plan my return itinerary. I wish I could stay longer to also go around by myself in the beautiful nature. The meals (dinner & breakfast) were too big for one person and they were still trying to offer me different things. The room was also extremely spacious, authentic Japanese house, everything you need, not more, not least, with wabisabi spirit;) Big thank you and a strong recommendation for nature lovers who want to experience the Japanese hospitality.

An amazing experience provided by the most gentle and kind couple we have encountered in our travels. They made us feel part of the family from the very beginning and the food was out of this world. We cannot thanked them enough for their hospitality and warmth. A remarkable experience.

This was probably the best overnight experience you could possibly have. I love these folks who were our hosts and would 100% go out of my way when I come back to Japan to visit with them again. Not only was their home in the middle of what I'm sure was the inspiration for Totoro, but their cooking skills, humor, and generosity were second to none. Their passion for their way of life and excitement to share it with others is so fun to be around. You are honestly messing up if you do not book this right now. It is so far away from everything but that is absolutely one of the best parts. I'm pretty sure my husband is plotting to retire out there, language barrier be damned. Do it, you won't be sorry.
