We were seated right at the teppanyaki counter, directly in front of the grill. The room holds only a handful of seats, which makes the whole evening feel private and unhurried. The chef is warm and easy to talk to, the ingredients are clearly high quality, and every dish was delicious. A memorable evening from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Chef Makoto gave us a truly memorable evening at Teppanyaki Mitaki Akasaka. We came through a byFood reservation, and from the first course to the last, the quality of his ingredients and the skill in how he handled them made for a meal that was both delicious and remarkably well balanced. Our heartfelt thanks to Chef Makoto and the team. We recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

We had a great time and enjoyed the food . The ingredients were top quality and they were combined together to create great tasting sushi . The chef was very nice and fun to speak with and even gave us recommendations on where to get kitchen supplies. Overall a great experience.

An unassuming entrance that is genuinely hard to find, but a warm welcome the moment you step inside. Chef Makoto's technique and timing were remarkable throughout. The sesame tofu converted me on a dish I usually skip, and the Daisen chicken soup was outstanding, with real depth and a lovely thyme aroma. The tasting menu flowed beautifully from course to course, and the chef walked us through each local ingredient before it hit the plate. Good soft drink options too. Thank you to Chef Makoto and the byFood team.

Such a special omakase experience! The space felt incredibly private, with a clean, minimalistic aesthetic that made the whole meal feel catered towards their audience. Every detail, from the presentation to the pacing of the course, was thoughtful, and you could really tell the focus was on letting the food quality speak for themselves. Definitely one of those places you go to slow down; highly recommended!

Today I had the opportunity to sit at the beautiful Kiso cypress counter at Ginza Sushi Yu (銀座 鮨 佑). Under the guidance of Head Chef Arito Seiki—a third-generation sushi chef—the kitchen operates on flawless biological timing. This isn't just tradition; it is decades of refined operational knowledge and generational Kaizen in action. It isn't just about premium sourcing from Toyosu Market—though securing top-tier cuts like Yamayuki akami (lean tuna) is a massive B2B advantage—it is about execution and temperature synchronization. The Lunch Course Highlights: 🐟 Yamayuki-sourced Akami 🔪 Aji (horse mackerel) meticulously scored and topped with a bright shiso, ginger, and scallion blend 🍣 Flawless seasonal cuts of Sawara (Spanish mackerel), Isaki (grunt), and Hotate (scallop) 🥢 Traditional Edomae finishes including Anago (conger eel), Tamagoyaki, and Kanpyo (dried gourd) The shari (rice) is meticulously maintained at human skin temperature to perfectly interact with the fats of the"

It was a pleasure to dine at a one star Michelin restaurant, particularly for sushi for a vegetarian. The whole experience (service and ambience) was great. However, for the price it was disappointing, particularly the vegetarian set menu. Did not live up to expectation.

How to reserve vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo?

Directly calling vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo is one of the main ways to make an advance reservation. However, this can sometimes be difficult due to limitations caused by language barriers. To avoid confusion, you can reserve a vegetarian restaurant in Tokyo using an online platform. There are many that help foreigners to reserve restaurants in Tokyo and greater Japan. One of them is byFood. By using the byFood platform, you can filter restaurants depending on the meal type and your diners’ dietary requirements, displaying restaurants such as those which have vegetarian options. To reserve seats at a restaurant, simply enter your details into that restaurant page. ByFood will make a reservation on your behalf and send a confirmation email through to you if the reservation is accepted. If it is not accepted, you will then receive a failed reservation email.

Is a reservation required for vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo?

Not all vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo require a booking, although it depends on the restaurant. If it is a casual vegetarian restaurant, most of the time you do not need to reserve a table unless it is a very popular restaurant. If it is a fine dining vegetarian restaurant, it is a good idea to reserve ahead of time.

What is the average cost of a meal at vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo?

Many vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo can cost less than 1000 yen per meal, however it depends on the restaurant. An average vegetarian meal costs around 2000 yen for dinner, however if you were eating at a more premium restaurant, it could be over 4000 yen.
