Experience Details
Step into a peaceful, retro-modern farmhouse in Aichi, where the scents of fresh vegetables, warm tea, and steamed rice create a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
Surrounded by nature and traditional Japanese living spaces, this cooking experience invites guests to slow down and enjoy food more mindfully.
Your host created the philosophy of Healing Gohan after working with people from many different cultural and religious backgrounds. Through simple Japanese cooking made with seasonal ingredients, the experience encourages connection, balance, and shared understanding around the table.
The experience begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the ideas behind Zen cooking and Zen eating.
Guests who choose the optional garden visit can step outside to the organic garden to hand-harvest seasonal vegetables. Depending on the season, you may pick crisp greens, fragrant herbs, or colorful vegetables while learning about the importance of seasonality in Japanese food culture.
Back inside the farmhouse kitchen, you will prepare either a sushi cake or sushi balls using plant-based ingredients and freshly harvested vegetables.
Your host will guide you through simple Japanese techniques for preparing vegetables, balancing flavors, and arranging ingredients beautifully. As colorful vegetables are layered and shaped by hand, the experience becomes both creative and deeply calming.
Before the meal begins, guests are invited to participate in a short food meditation inspired by Zen eating practices.
In the quiet dining space, you can take a moment to appreciate the colors, textures, aromas, and natural flavors of the meal before sharing it together over warm conversation and tea.
More than a cooking class, this experience is a chance to slow down, connect with Japanese food culture, and share a comforting homemade meal in a traditional farmhouse.
