Step inside a Japanese home in Osaka to learn the Japanese art of sushi-making with Katsuji, an industry professional with 38 years of experience.
Soak in the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony and make a variety of sushi before leaving with a personalized souvenir.
Your host, Katsuji, has 38 years of experience managing 12 successful izakaya, ramen shops and sushi restaurants. He now utilizes the knowledge he acquired over nearly four decades in the business to run cooking classes at his home in Osaka while collaborating with his daughter, Chiharu.
His classes teach a variety of Japanese staple dishes, from tempura to ramen, but this class focuses on a classic combination of rice, fish, seaweed and toppings: sushi.
Japanese tea ceremony in a tea room: Step inside a tranquil tea room in Katsuji’s home to experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. This is a chance to relax and soak in your surroundings as you savor the flavors of Japanese tea.
Sushi-making class: Guided by your experienced instructor, you’ll make a variety of sushi, from nigiri to temari sushi. Learn how to prepare the perfect sushi rice, select the freshest fish and master the art of rolling and shaping the sushi. When your beautiful and delicious meal is complete, sit back and enjoy your handmade sushi.
Before leaving, you’ll receive a custom calligraphy art souvenir created by Katsuji himself, serving as a wonderful memento of your tea ceremony and sushi-making experience in Osaka.
