Experience Details

Experience the tranquil art of Buddha-shaped bread making in the peaceful Hase district of Kamakura, in a small-group workshop designed for mindfulness and creativity.

This unique experience is perfect either before or after visiting the Great Buddha of Kamakura. Begin by sketching your own Buddha design, using provided reference photos or drawings.

Following your artwork, you’ll shape the dough, which has been pre-prepared for ease, so even beginners can join in with confidence. Whether you’re drawing or kneading, you’ll be immersed in a calming, focused atmosphere as you create something truly personal.

As your bread rises, enjoy a delicious Japanese light snack. Choose between savory okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) or a comforting oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl). Feel free to ask questions about the process while your meal is prepared right in front of you.

Once your bread has fully risen, it’s time for the final touch; decorate your creation with chocolate to form facial expressions and details, before baking your masterpiece.

Afterward, your custom-designed bread will be beautifully packaged for you to take home, leaving you with a mindful (and tasty!) memory from Kamakura’s serene Hase district.
