Experience Details

Set in Kyoto’s charming Gion district, this workshop combines two Japanese traditions: ceramics and ramen-making.

Set on a quiet street lined with wooden facades, the class is held at a ramen academy recognized for its skilled approach and growing global presence.

The experience starts at the worktable, with brushes in hand and plain ceramic pieces waiting to be transformed. Guests paint a renge spoon, using their own ideas or traditional Japanese patterns.

The soft drag of the brush against ceramic and the earthy scent of raw clay set a calm, focused tone. An apron can also be painted for those who want an additional keepsake.

Once the artwork is complete, the energy shifts to the kitchen. Under the guidance of an experienced ramen professional, guests learn how to prepare noodles and practice yugiri, the precise water-draining technique that defines the final texture and balance of ramen.

Steam rises as noodles are shaken free of excess water, the sound sharp and rhythmic against stainless steel.

Guests will then assemble their bowl, choosing between Musoshin ramen with its creamy chicken, pork, and vegetable broth, or Gion kurosoba, distinguished by its deep black sesame flavor.

A vegan option is available to ensure this experience remains accessible without compromising depth or technique.

The session ends with a quiet moment of satisfaction: sitting down to enjoy ramen made by your own hands.

You can take home your renge spoon the same day for decoration or kiln-fired at no extra cost, ready for pick-up the following day. Shipping to hotels within Japan can also be arranged, allowing the memory to travel onward with you.
