Collaborating with his daughter, Chiharu, he now offers cooking classes from his home in Osaka, with classes teaching various Japanese and Osaka-style dishes, including sushi, ramen and izakaya specialties. Japanese Tea Ceremony in a Tea Room: Your experience begins slowly, with a tea ceremony in a tranquil tea room in Katsuji’s home. This is an opportunity to unwind, take in your surroundings, and socialize while witnessing an authentic Japanese tea ceremony. Sushi and Kushikatsu Cooking Class: Learn how to make two iconic Japanese dishes–sushi and kushikatsu–from scratch. Under the guidance of your seasoned instructor, you’ll select the freshest fish, prepare the perfect sushi rice, and master the art of rolling and shaping various types of sushi, from classic nigiri to creative maki rolls. The second dish on your Japanese cooking roster is kushikatsu, a popular skewered and deep-fried street food in Japan. You'll get hands-on experience selecting, skewering, and deep frying a variety of ingredients, from succulent meats and vegetables to mouthwatering seafood. Once you’ve cooked, it’s time to feast! Once you’ve mastered your tasty duo of dishes, sit back, relax, and enjoy your handmade sushi and kushikatsu. As your experience draws to a close, you’ll receive a custom piece of calligraphy art created by Katsuji himself.
