Alina, our guide, was truly exceptional. She had a wealth of knowledge about wonderful vegan experiences in the Ginza area of Tokyo. She also shared her insights into Japanese culture and history that gave us new insights and appreciation for this wonderful country. We highly recommend her to anyone who is interested in experiencing the vegan side of central Tokyo.

We had a great experience! It can be about more than just the snacks, thankfully. Our guide asked about our interest level and, with that confirmed, shared her extensive knowledge of Japanese customs as ate our desserts. Two things to know: this is really a walk around the shrine, not a neighborhood tour. If you arrive early, do not explore the shrine; instead, wander through the surrounding streets. Also, the desserts were wonderful but it is really a mochi tour. We love mochi in all its forms so it worked well for us. However, if you don't, you may want to note that in your booking so other arrangements can be made. It was a delightful way to spend some time especially since we were starving. Vegan in Japan is the challenge everyone says it will be even with a plan. Our guide was kind to share vegan restaurant recommendations with us. Even with those it was still tricky as we are not used to or inclined to wait in long lines for a table.

We had a wonderful experience with Michie who spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable of the area and food. Our daughter is Coeliac and Michie made sure she was able to have gluten free safe options. Would recommend to anyone with dietary restrictions.

I really enjoyed my Flavors of Japan food tour. We toured the Nihombashi area in Tokyo in April with Ramona and Mandy. They were charming and well informed about both the area and Japanese food. They took us to speciality stores and explained about the importance of regional food, we could try some of the products. The lunch we ate was delightful! Can't remember the name of the restaurant. This tour was so enjoyable with great tour guides. Mandy and Ramona didn't make us hurry so the tour ended up being longer than it advertised.

Discover the Intricacies of Wagashi in Tokyo

Tokyo is a treasure trove for food lovers, offering a plethora of culinary delights that captivate and surprise the senses. One of the most enchanting experiences in the city is exploring its traditional sweets, known as Wagashi. These Japanese confections are not just desserts but tiny masterpieces that reflect the country’s rich history, cultural significance, and seasons. Embark on a unique one-day tour in Tokyo dedicated to the art of Wagashi and rediscover your love for sweets.

What to Expect from Tokyo's Wagashi 1-Day Tours

Wagashi tours in Tokyo are an insightful journey into the artistic realm of Japanese sweets. Led by experienced guides and artisans, these tours offer both locals and tourists a deep dive into the traditional practices and modern innovations of Wagashi making. Participants will have the opportunity to visit renowned Wagashi shops with a history that spans centuries. Observe skilled confectioners at work, meticulously shaping and decorating each piece using techniques passed down through generations. These tours often include hands-on workshops where you can try your hand at crafting your own Wagashi, under the guidance of masters. This immersive experience is perfect for anyone looking to understand the full breadth of Japanese sweets culture intimately.

Immerse Yourself in Japan's Sweet Traditions

The beauty of participating in a Tokyo Wagashi 1-day tour is the holistic insight it provides into Japanese culture. Each Wagashi is crafted with careful consideration of seasonality, using ingredients that reflect the time of year. Spring might bring cherry blossom motifs while autumn sees chestnut flavors coming to the forefront. This connection to the seasons is a cherished aspect that heightens the enjoyment of Wagashi. The tours also often incorporate tea ceremonies, as Wagashi is traditionally paired with Japanese tea, enhancing the flavors and providing a peaceful, mindful moment to savor your creation. Treat yourself to this blend of tea and art, which elevates Wagashi eating from a simple act of consumption to an experience rich with culture and tradition.
