Step behind the kitchen counter at La Cuisine Enju, a sleek French restaurant in Hikone, Shiga, for a private cooking class with premium ingredients like abalone, lobster, and Shiga’s renowned Omi beef.


Under the careful guidance of seasoned Chef Yamada, you will grill melt-in-your-mouth Omi sirloin and filet, and take turns preparing live lobster and abalone, with one participant handling the latter two.


Along the way, Chef Yamada shares insights from his extensive culinary training in France and top restaurants in Japan, offering tips to help you cook each dish to perfection.


During the class, guests will prepare and enjoy a multi-course meal. You will cook garlic chips, grilled fish, grilled live lobster, grilled live abalone, grilled Omi beef steak (70g sirloin and 60g fillet), and garlic rice.


Other courses include seasonal appetizers, roast beef, soup of the day, grilled vegetables, pickled dishes with miso soup, and a refreshing sorbet to finish.


Chef Yamada studied in France for 2 years at prestigious 2- and 3-star restaurants before returning to Japan to work at renowned establishments.


In 2020, he opened La Cuisine Enju in Hikone, a charming castle town on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture.
