What a FUN concept! If you're planning on jumping on a sightseeing bus while in Tokyo anyway, why not enjoy it with some great sushi along the ride. I was extremely impressed by how they made this work. The sushi was made fresh downstairs and then delivered on a surprisingly secure conveyor belt along the perimeter of the bus (no flying fish!). The bus was driving relatively slow throughout Tokyo traffic and although I was sitting backwards I didn't experience any motion sickness which I normally would. The open air, beautiful sights and delicious sushi definitely helped! To top it off, the staff were welcoming and extremely enthusiastic which added another level of charm to the the whole experience. I highly recommend it especially for first-time visitors to Japan.

I had a great time on the Sushi Bus and would recommend it to both visitors and people who already know Tokyo well. The experience starts near Tokyo Station. When the weather allows, the second-floor roof opens completely, offering fresh air and a wonderful sense of openness. The bright red bus looks like a giant tuna driving through Tokyo, attracting plenty of attention. People on the street took photos and waved at us as the sushi started coming around. There are around 15 kinds of sushi. What surprised me most was the quality. I expected the novelty of eating sushi on a bus to be the main attraction, but the sushi itself was genuinely delicious. The route heads toward Asakusa, passing Kaminarimon, Tokyo Skytree, and the Asahi Beer headquarters. Even though I had seen these places before, the view from the upper deck, with sushi going around beside me, made Tokyo feel completely different. After 30 to 40 minutes, I had tried most of the sushi and was already quite full, leaving plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery. The full ride lasts around 70 minutes, which felt just right. I am over six feet tall, but there was plenty of headroom, and the bus was much more comfortable than expected. Riding through Tokyo on a bright red bus while enjoying conveyor-belt sushi may sound unusual at first, but it works surprisingly well. It was a fun, comfortable, and memorable way to experience Tokyo.

First time ever experiencing sushi on a bus! This is definitely for anyone looking to explore a new way into what Tokyo has to offer. You get to sightsee Tokyo’s beautiful iconic locations while enjoying fresh sushi served right by you on a conveyor belt! The energy is lively, and the staff are incredibly welcoming from start to finish. The sushi is all-you-can-eat, with a drink included, all while the change of scenery complements your dining experience. It was truly refreshing!

I joined this experience on a beautiful autumn afternoon with a refreshing breeze. The route that day took us past Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree. The meeting point at Kajibashi Parking Lot was easy to find and conveniently located just a short walk from Tokyo Station. As soon as we boarded the bus, the cheerful staff welcomed us in Japanese, which made the experience even more exciting! The open roof offered fantastic views and made it easy to take great photos along the way. The sushi was excellent quality, too, with generous portions of fresh toppings. When we passed in front of Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa, we attracted lots of attention from tourists, and many people were taking photos of the bus. It was such a fun and unique experience! The 70-minute ride was just the right length to enjoy a satisfying sushi meal while taking in the scenery and chatting along the way. I can’t wait to tell my friends about this experience and show off the fact that I got to ride this special Sushi Bus!

An Unforgettable Sushi Experience in Tokyo! I visited Okuakasaka Sushi Tanji with two friends, and it was easily one of our favorite dining experiences in Japan. The minimalist interior creates a peaceful and elegant atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Every dish felt refined and carefully prepared. Each piece of sushi had a wonderful balance of umami, sweetness, and saltiness. The aged fish was buttery and tender, pairing beautifully with the warm, seasoned sushi rice. The aged tuna nigiri was a highlight, as was the straw-grilled smoked fish with its wonderful aroma. The beautiful Japanese ceramics also made every course a pleasure to look at. The chefs and staff were warm and welcoming and spoke excellent English, making the experience very comfortable for international guests. The intimate hinoki cypress counter also added to the special atmosphere. One of the best surprises came at the end. We were led into a hidden traditional tatami tea room, where the chef prepared fresh matcha served with a seasonal wagashi sweet. It was a peaceful and memorable way to finish the evening. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a special omakase experience in Tokyo!

The food at Sushi Tanji was the main highlight of the experience. Each piece of sushi felt carefully prepared, with a good balance between the softness of the fish and the texture of the rice. Some pieces were richer and fattier, while others were lighter and cleaner, so the omakase never felt repetitive. The flavours were fresh, delicate and well balanced rather than overly salty or heavy. What surprised me most was the dessert at the end. The matcha was prepared in front of me in a small traditional room, which made it feel much more special. It was slightly bitter and earthy, and it paired perfectly with the muscat daifuku. The daifuku was soft and chewy, while the muscat inside was extremely juicy and sweet. Honestly, the matcha and muscat daifuku were probably my favourite part of the whole meal. The sushi was excellent, but that final combination was what I remembered most after leaving.

such a special and memorable experience! 🍣🍵✨ The sushi was amazing, and I loved how the chefs explained where each fish came from. I could ask questions and even learn how to pronounce some of the fish names in Japanese, so I actually learned a lot during the meal. I normally don’t like squid or scallop, but this was the first sushi restaurant where I genuinely enjoyed the scallop! But the absolute highlight was the tea ceremony. 🍵 I had never experienced matcha like this before. I always thought matcha prepared with water was supposed to be very bitter, but this was incredibly smooth, rich and delicious. We were also served a traditional Japanese sweet alongside it, which was the perfect way to finish the experience. I was also completely surprised by the hidden tea room! The whole concept is so unique and intimate, and I think it would be perfect for a birthday, anniversary, date, or any special occasion. If you’re travelling all the way to Japan, I really believe you should treat yourself to experiences like this. It’s so much more than just dinner it’s food, Japanese culture, hospitality and craftsmanship all in one unforgettable experience. The chefs were also incredibly polite and welcoming… and very handsome men, I have to say.

This was a great experience. You enjoy sushi on the open upper deck of a bus while it drives through Tokyo, and the views along the way are amazing. The highlight for me was passing right under Tokyo Tower while eating. When the weather is good, sitting in the open air makes it feel even more special. The sushi is all you can eat, and the quality is better than what you find at the average conveyor belt sushi chain. I was pleasantly surprised by that. It is also fun to see how much attention the bus gets. Everywhere it goes, people on the street look up and take photos. This is something everyone should experience at least once in Tokyo.

The restaurant has a beautiful, quiet entrance without being intimidating. When you think of omakase, it can feel quite strict and severe, but I felt comfortable to talk and interact with both the staff and my seatmates. The staff fluently speaks Japanese and English, making the experience easy for both local and international customers. It was great to hear both the English and Japanese names and origins for the fish. The sushi was incredibly tender, melt in your mouth, with subtle flavors and perfectly seasoned. It's difficult to choose an outstanding dish, as the quality was high. The chutoro and uni were my favorites. That said, the anago was a surprise hit! There were a lot of servings but it was just the right amount, so you won't feel too full to move after. The post-meal tea ceremony in the special room was a great ender to the meal.

I had such a wonderful experience at Sushi Tanji! Everything was delicious, but as a huge matcha lover, I especially loved that the experience ended with a traditional tea ceremony. It was such a beautiful and unexpected way to finish the omakase. Even though I live in Tokyo, as a foreigner, I’m always happy to discover and experience more of Japanese culture, and this was such a special way to do so. I also loved sharing the omakase experience with my friends. I think it would be such a lovely choice for a birthday, a girls’ night, a date night, or any special occasion. The chef was incredibly kind and explained everything to us in both English and Japanese, which made the experience feel very welcoming and easy to enjoy. Special mention to the anago (eel?) that was melting in our mouth, first time I eat something like that, it was exquisite!

It was my first omakase sushi experience and I am extremely happy with my choice. The restaurant offers counter seats with a great view of the sushi chefs skillfully preparing each piece and delivering it in front of you. The chefs were friendly and spoke English, which was very useful when trying a surprising variety of different fish. The sushi itself was well-balanced and fresh, showing amazing attention to detail and quality. From medium fatty tuna to sardines, each bite was a unique and satisfying experience. I especially enjoyed anago (sea eel), which instantly melts in your mouth. I feel like it helped me learn a lot about traditional Japanese cuisine. Another highlight of the dinner was ending it with a tea ceremony. It is held in a separate room, which you have to enter by crawling through an opening in the wall. Once inside, you can enjoy the calm of a beautiful Japanese style room while the chef prepares high quality matcha in a traditional way. It was a nice opportunity to appreciate and reflect on the whole experience while drinking tea. As the restaurant menu changes seasonally, I would love to come back again!

Whether you have celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or have chosen a gluten-free regimen, there are plentiful options for enjoying this iconic Japanese cuisine without compromise.

Why Choose Gluten-Free Sushi?

Sushi is a Japanese dish renowned for its fresh ingredients, simplicity, and rich flavors. Traditionally, sushi centers around rice, but modern adaptations often incorporate sauces or components that contain gluten. By opting for gluten-free sushi, you can savor the taste of Japan without the worry of gluten-related discomfort. Many restaurants now understand the importance of offering gluten-free options, making it easier than ever for sushi lovers to enjoy their favorite food safely.

Gluten-free sushi typically involves the use of tamari instead of soy sauce, which contains wheat, and ensuring any imitation crab and other ingredients are free from gluten additives. You can delight in a variety of rolls, nigiri, or sashimi, each crafted carefully to maintain authentic flavors while ensuring they suit your dietary needs.

When dining out at a gluten-free sushi restaurant, you can expect not only a wide selection of flavorful dishes but also a commitment to quality and safety. Chefs in these specialized eateries are knowledgeable about cross-contamination and handle ingredients with meticulous care. This attention to detail ensures that every meal is both delicious and safe for those avoiding gluten.

These dedicated establishments often offer unique twists on classic sushi rolls, incorporating seasonal ingredients, inventive sauces, and textures that capture the essence of traditional sushi. Additionally, many of these restaurants provide detailed menus with clear labeling of gluten-free options, allowing for confident and informed choices.

In a world where dietary needs are diverse and important, choosing a gluten-free sushi restaurant allows you to indulge in your passion for Japanese cuisine without restrictions, all while experiencing an exquisite culinary journey. Whether it's a casual dining experience or a gourmet affair, these restaurants are prepared to ensure your satisfaction and well-being.
