Easily one of my favorite meals in Japan! Do be aware that it’s an omakase, but everything was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke enough English to help understand the menu and what you’re eating. The head chef at the end also thanked us for coming as we left. A fun and unique experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Beautifully restored Kyoto townhouse with inner garden. The hanawarabi mochi was an edible artwork: little translucent drops of sweetness with vibrantly coloured flowers inside. Perfect combination with matcha.

Lovely food in a lively atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the obanzai set: five little dishes of Kytoto preparations with vegetables. The steamed chicken with ponzu was also superb!

This was hands down the best meal we have had in our lives. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Kyoto Kaiseki cuisine. The restaurant is family run by a warm and gracious couple, and each course is a piece of art that delights both the eyes and the senses. We left the establishment with our hearts and our bellies full, and would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for traditional Kyoto Kaiseki food

We had our last meal in Japan at this lovely restaurant in Kyoto. Please note, it’s in a narrow alley tucked behind a building so very hard to find and well worth it. From the moment we walked in we were greeted like family. Each dish was beyond fresh and beautifully presented with local seasonal garnishes. The husband and wife team are engaging and make every effort to describe the dishes in English. The wife had very good English and was very interested to talk with us. The husband, chef, is a Red Sox fan so we enjoyed hearing that. The courses were well balanced between fresh raw fish and cooked plates. I highly recommend this restaurant. Of our 16 dinners it was one of the top picks and the best one to have the night before leaving this beautiful country.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner! The staff was amazing. When we arrived, we had booked a private room for two but then the women who sat us asked us if it was okay if she sat us at a garden view table. What a nice thing tk do and it was incredible.
I have to say we were a little intimidated by the cooking process and the selection but again, the women who sat us was super helpful guiding ua through the menu. They have an fantastic 10 course meal but we decided to go a touch lighter.
The kimchi starter and the egg soup were a delight. We then enjoyed our grilling experience of two kinds of beef. Totally forgot what we ordered but what I can say is they were both excellent.
The big finish was two great desserts. All was for a very reasonable price.
Thanks for such a special evening.

Great food and atmosphere! Recommend booking in advance as it was full when we came in (with a reservation).
