Tofu Food Experiences

This was one our favorite activities in Japan! We were able to do a vegan menu and my teenagers were even engaged the whole time.

Super Great time with Bruce, he ensured the evening stayed joyful, fun and engaging! It was not awkward and he was insightful, friendly and made us feel so welcomed! His warm and knowledgable approach made the food tour amazing for my family and I. Take note, I had 3 elderly and 5 adults! It was a truly wonderful afternoon and evening. The tour of the workshop was very interesting. The cooking session with Akiko at the end was the perfect way to wrap things up. We were given a very warm welcome at her home. It was the absolute highlight of our entire vacation.

This experience was an absolute highlight on our Japan trip and is a memory we will fondly look back on. Akiko-san and her brother, Taka-san, made us feel very welcomed, showed us the process of making Ramen noodles in great depth and answered every question we had. Cooking and eating our own delicious Ramen later at Akiko-san's home was the perfect ending to an already amazing day. If you want to experience authentic local culture, learn about types of ramen noodles, or just love eating great food - do yourself a favor and book this. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

I had a very enjoyable and educational cooking class at Yuka's home. Everything was explained well, including the background of Shojin Ryori. The visit to the supermarket afterwards was also a real added bonus. Thank you, Yuka, for the wonderful day in your kitchen.

It was such a lovely day with Aikiko and her brother! We were made to feel so very welcome, every question was answered, and we even got to have a go at making the noodles ourselves. Visiting Aikiko at home was an unforgettable experience. Cooking the meal was great fun and it tasted absolutely delicious! I can’t recommend the ramen ‘tour’ highly enough – it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

This experience felt so personal and heartwarming. Akiko-san and her brother Taka-san show you their family factory rich in history and traditions. You then get to cook a few of Akiko's grandmother's recipes. I felt really lucky to be there and get to live this. I got to taste all the different kinds of noodles the factory made! It was incredible. The whole family was nice. It was felt so nice to have dinner, chat and laugh. Really made my time in Japan special.

Learning to cook was the objective, Miss Yamakasi made it an unforgettable experience. Connecting and bonding through food and the preparation thereof was everything I'd hoped for. Would happily recommend!

Loved the cooking class with Midori. I am gluten intolerant, not coeliac, she was able to accommodate and made sure all food was safe. We made onigiri, gyoza and katsudon, everything was delicious! Midori San is a great host and we had a lovely chat about a lot of things including Japanese cuisine and places to visit in or around Kyoto. I can definitely recommend!

This was a fun, accessible way to experience yatai in Fukuoka. Reasons to book this tour (in no particular order): 1. It takes the guess work out of choosing where and what to eat. Bruce takes you to the places he personally eats at, and orders the best items at each stall. 2. Variety. We must have sampled ten different dishes and everything was delicious. (You will leave full!) 3. Experiencing new foods with other travelers who enjoy food as much as you do is a lovely way to spend an evening. 4. Bruce is an attentive host, eager to share what Fukuoka's yatai scene has to offer. In short, great host, great food, great experience. Highly recommend!
