Experience Details

Japanese-style fried chicken, karaage, is delicious on its own, but even better as part of a colorful bento, a traditional Japanese packed meal.

In this hands-on class, you will learn how to create an authentic bento using home-style recipes in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Your host, Mika, is a passionate chef and certified Food Education instructor. In her welcoming home kitchen, she will guide you step by step through bento making, sharing tips on balancing flavors, colors, and presentation.

The class begins with a short walk from the nearest station to Mika’s kitchen, where she will introduce the menu and show you the essentials of bento making.

You will start by preparing karaage and Japanese potato salad, then cook dashimaki tamago, the Japanese rolled omelet, and shape seasoned rice balls called onigiri.

Finally, you will fry the karaage and arrange all the dishes in a beautiful bento box. Once complete, you can sit down and enjoy the meal you prepared together.

Throughout the experience, you will discover the beauty of Japanese home cooking and learn practical recipes that will be emailed to you afterward, so you can recreate your own delicious and colorful bento at home.
