This was by far our most memorable and enjoyable experience. We especially liked speaking with one of the family members who was the 11th generation of carrying on this tradition. Domo arigato gozai masu for treating us so well.

The experience was great. The restaurant is cozy and the counter has traditional horigotatsu seating. The chef is very friendly and converses with you through the courses. The ensemble of flavors through out is great. You start off with a medley appetizers. Then you move on to various sashimi dishes. The main event was perfectly prepared wagyu with salt, soy sauce koji, and wasabi on the side if you want the added seasoning. The fina course an amazing rich dish and hot tea. All in all a great experience, definitely worth the visit if you’re in the Tennoji area of Osaka.

Had a great time dining at Wagyu Matsumiya. The chef tries his best with a translator to strike up conversation and the dishes overall were all well thought out and well designed too. Enjoyed it much and would definitely come again.

This dinner was phenomenal!! A very intimate dinner setting with a broad course selection. The chef is very talented, & despite not speaking much English we communicated very easily with google translate. Once he found out we are on our honeymoon he generously showed us how to celebrate the Japanese way (with Saké, of course). This dinner was easily the highlight of our honeymoon!

Exceptional food and service!!! Had this as our last meal in Osaka and it was amazing! The chef was so lovely and incredibly patient with our lack of ability to speak Japanese. If you’re looking for an intimate setting for good quality food and a good vibe highly recommend here. For the non Japanese speakers it is located upstairs.

While Kakusho is expensive, it was an investment in our culinary education. A splendid degustation, beautifully paced and utterly delicious. Course after course of local specialties that set the standard for soba noodles, rice that was almost like risotto, yuba bean curd skin and an array of delicious vegetables, the burdock being a revelation. Teamed with a wonderful smoot dry sake and impeccable service, Kakusho is worth every cent.

Washoku offers a harmonious blend of ingredients that embody the essence of nature, with an emphasis on seasonal and regional varieties. Vegetarian options in these restaurants are not only delicious but also a feast for your senses.

Japanese cuisine often focuses on the quality and essence of ingredients, and when it comes to vegetarian dishes, Washoku excels at creating flavors that are rich and satisfying. Many traditional dishes like sushi, miso soup, and pickled vegetables can be easily adapted to cater to vegetarian tastes. Additionally, more contemporary dishes have been introduced to meet the growing demand for plant-based meals, ensuring you have a diverse array of options to choose from. Through this unique fusion of taste and tradition, you can enjoy the full spectrum of flavors without compromising on your dietary preferences.

Signature Vegetarian Washoku Dishes You Must Try

The vegetarian options in traditional Japanese cuisine that you can explore are vast and flavorful. One of the signature dishes is vegetable tempura. These are lightly battered vegetables fried to a crisp, offering a delightful contrast to the fresh produce within. Another must-try is Yasai Itame, a simple yet flavorful stir-fry of vegetables that highlights the fresh ingredient's umami essence.

Additionally, indulge in a comforting bowl of Zaru Soba. This dish of cold buckwheat noodles served with a light dipping sauce is perfect for warm days. For something heartier, try a bowl of vegetarian ramen, made from a rich and savory broth topped with a variety of vegetables and tofu. Sushi enthusiasts can enjoy vegetable sushi rolls adorned with cucumber, avocado, or pickled vegetables. These dishes not only comply with vegetarian diets but also provide a true taste of Japanese culinary artistry.

These establishments often provide a serene setting that reflects the minimalist principles of Japanese aesthetics, enhancing your dining experience. Whether you're sipping on a warm cup of freshly brewed green tea or enjoying an elaborate multi-course meal of Kaiseki-style dining, you can expect an extraordinary culinary journey that respects your vegetarian choices.
