Your hosts are Yone, Hide, and Yutaka–seasoned sushi chefs on a mission to share their love for this beloved Japanese culinary form. Using only the finest, freshest, and most flavorful seafood from Kyoto Central Wholesale Market, you’ll master the art of making nigiri, gunkan, and hosomaki sushi in this 2-hour cooking class. Once you’ve created your edible masterpieces and exchanged anecdotes with your merry hosts, enjoy your handmade sushi for lunch. With over 10 years of sushi-making experience under their belts, these skilled chefs (your hosts) have all the skills and knowledge needed to turn you into a pro. They also happen to speak fluent English, so language barriers are a non-issue. Whether you’re a sushi-making amateur or an almost-pro, this ste-by-step class will teach you lifelong cooking skills and Japanese culinary knowledge. Now, let’s get into the class in question! You'll learn the secrets of preparing traditional Japanese Nigiri Sushi, Gunkan, and Hosomaki (Maki Sushi made with Nori on a Makisubamboo mat). As you’re soaping and scrubbing up, your hosts will give you an in-depth rundown of the process and what’s to come for this experience. Hands clean and head full of knowledge, you’ll start the process by making sushi rice followed by 6 types of nigiri and 2 types of maki sushi rolls.
