Experience Details
Step into a traditional Okinawan house and slow down for a 90-minute cultural experience inspired by the island’s deep-rooted approach to health, happiness, and longevity.
This is not just a meal. It is an invitation to experience Okinawa’s way of living through food, storytelling, and quiet connection.
Your host grew up surrounded by Okinawan elders who live long, active lives. Watching them move through each day with energy, gratitude, and joy sparked a desire to understand what makes this lifestyle so enduring, and to share it with others. That inspiration led to the creation of this experience, developed along with elders nearing 100 years old.
The experience begins with a warm welcome and an authentic Okinawan drink, setting a relaxed and welcoming tone. You will then watch an original short film titled IKIGAI, created with eight remarkable Okinawan grandmothers. Through the film and gentle storytelling from your host, you will learn about values that shape everyday life in Okinawa, including gratitude, human connection, and living with purpose.
Next, enjoy a thoughtfully prepared “hakozen” meal made with local vegetables and island ingredients. Each dish highlights natural flavors and aromas, paired with traditional drinks and sweets. The meal is served on a special tray table once used in samurai households, adding a meaningful cultural layer to the experience.
As the session winds down, relax with tea and sweets inside the quiet warmth of the farmhouse. Surrounded by Okinawa’s lush natural setting, your host shares insights into daily life and longevity culture, offering a deeper understanding of the island beyond its beaches.
After the experience, guests are welcome to continue exploring the area on their own, with options like trekking, water activities, or visiting the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.
This experience brings together food, film, and lived wisdom. Turn one meal of your journey into a meaningful reflection of Okinawa’s way of living well.
