Step into a cozy kitchen in central Tokyo and enjoy the welcoming world of Japanese home cooking. Located near Yanaka, this hands-on class teaches you how to make authentic ramen and gyoza in a relaxed, home-style setting.
Yuki is a home-cooking instructor who loves sharing everyday Japanese dishes. She teaches simple techniques that show the comfort of daily meals in Japan. Because she studied in the United States and has worked with international teams, she communicates easily. She teaches with a friendly, global approach.
When you meet at the studio, Yuki will begin with a short introduction to Japanese home cooking and a quick look at Tokyo’s food culture. Then you’ll start learning the basics of ramen.
You’ll make the soup from scratch using dashi and learn how to cook homemade-style chashu. The noodles used in class are premade, and Yuki will show you how to handle, season, and plate them so your bowl looks and tastes great at home. You’ll also learn how to arrange toppings to complete the dish.
Next, you’ll prepare handmade gyoza. Mix the filling, fold each dumpling, and pan-fry them until the bottoms turn crisp and golden. You’ll also make a simple seasonal vegetable dish.
Throughout the class, Yuki shares simple explanations of Japanese food culture. She offers helpful tips for ingredient substitutions that can be used in your own country.
After cooking, sit down and enjoy your ramen, gyoza, and side dish with a cup of Japanese tea. When you finish, you can take a short walk to nearby Yanaka, known for its nostalgic lanes and wooden storefronts.
This small-group class is ideal for solo travelers, couples, and families seeking to learn Japanese cooking in a friendly and approachable manner. You’ll leave with new skills and the confidence to make ramen and gyoza at home.
