Experience Details
Indulge in some of Japan's most celebrated flavors in this hands-on culinary experience led by Chef Katsuji, a seasoned restaurant veteran with 38 years of experience, or his daughter, Chiharu.
Your journey begins in a quiet residential neighborhood, where local markets, family-run shops, and everyday life offer a glimpse into authentic Osaka. As you make your way to the venue, you'll experience the charm of a local community before being warmly welcomed into Chef Katsuji and his wife's home, where modern comforts blend with traditional Japanese design.
The experience starts with a traditional tea ceremony in a peaceful tea room, allowing you to slow down and appreciate the tranquility of Japanese tea culture.
Afterward, head into the kitchen to prepare nigiri and sushi rolls with fresh ingredients, then grill carefully selected cuts of premium wagyu beef. Learn how different seasonings, from fragrant wasabi to a simple sprinkle of salt, bring out the beef's rich flavor.
Guests with dietary restrictions are welcome. Chef Katsuji is happy to accommodate different dietary needs whenever possible, including vegetarian and vegan sushi prepared with beautifully presented seasonal ingredients and traditional Japanese seasonings.
Once the cooking is complete, gather around the table to enjoy the meal you've created while chatting with Chef Katsuji or Chiharu about life in Osaka, Japanese hospitality, and the stories behind the dishes.
After 38 years of running izakayas, sushi restaurants, and ramen shops, Chef Katsuji now shares his lifelong passion for Japanese cuisine through intimate home cooking classes with his daughter.
Before you leave, receive a custom piece of calligraphy created by Chef Katsuji as a meaningful keepsake of your day.
