Your host, Satomi, is a certified decorative maki sushi instructor who trained under the renowned Yuki Ishiguro. Known for her bright personality and gentle teaching style, Satomi creates a warm, welcoming environment perfect for first-timers and seasoned food lovers alike.

As you learn to roll your own sushi, you’ll discover more than just technique. Rather, you'll explore the rich cultural roots of this beloved Japanese dish. Sushi began over a thousand years ago as a method of preserving fish and has since evolved into an art form, with varieties, such as colorful maki rolls and elegant nigiri. There is no doubt about it that making sushi by hand is a meditative, inspired process (and a delicious one, too!).
