Experience Details
Dubbed the Kyoto of the East, Kamakura seamlessly blends traditional history and culture, serving as Japan's former political capital and offering stunning seaside views of Mount Fuji.
Kamakura, in nearby Kanagawa Prefecture, is less than an hour by train from central Tokyo. Its green mountains and historic sites make it a perfect day trip away from the city’s bustle.
Discover Kamakura’s history and local flavors on this half-day tour, led by a knowledgeable guide who will share the stories behind the city’s famous temples and shrines. Halal, vegan, and vegetarian options ensure everyone can enjoy Japanese cuisine while sightseeing.
Your experience begins when you meet your guide at JR Kamakura Station. From there, you’ll take a short journey to Jomyoji Temple, a Zen temple known for its serene dry landscape garden, perfect for a moment of reflection.
Next, head to Hokokuji Temple, also known as the Bamboo Temple, and enjoy the peaceful bamboo grove along with a cup of matcha at the teahouse. After exploring the temples, return to Kamakura Station for lunch at a nearby restaurant with halal, vegan, and vegetarian options.
Following your meal, explore Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, the 800-year-old heart of Kamakura, and learn about Hachiman, the guardian deity of samurai warriors, while wandering the shrine grounds.
Finish your tour with a relaxing walk along Komachi-dori, a lively street full of shops, cafes, and local eateries, then return to JR Kamakura Station, where you can continue exploring on your own.
